The BEGINNING:
Prior to 1969, Juvenile Court Workers lacked an education organization. A meeting was held February 12, 1969 to discuss the need for such an organization.
By the close of the day, GJSA had been created. The first conference was held in Athens, Georgia in June of 1969.
We now have an Executive Board, District Representatives and several committees and sub-committees to handle different tasks. As of November 2003, we
are recognized as a 501(c)3 public nonprofit organization.
Members are professionals, paraprofessionals, and administrative support personnel employed by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, Juvenile
Courts, mental health centers, county Department of Family and Children Services, family counseling centers, concerned citizens and other public and
private agencies in Georgia who are concerned about the issues involving troubled children.
